MY WORK: A PERSONAL STATEMENT
It was in the Southwest that my eyes opened, my creativity blossomed, and I discovered my soul’s passion. My interpretation of the Southwest and now the Southeast (as well as wherever my worldly, imaginative, and spiritual travels take me) is inspired by the Nature’s landscapes, people, cultures, icons, and symbolism. The textures and colors of these elements are what intrigues me and draws me in to express. The layering of the history, geology, geography, psychology, and spirituality of this Earth and Universe inspires me to create my layers; therefore, much of my work is sculptural: mixed media and collage, with watercolor and acrylic paint, handmade papers, found objects, and my own words. Through the combining of these elements and the use of this variety in media, I express the Harmony of Nature and Humanity, along with Spirit, in my “artistic environments”.
